Bio
While serving as head coach at UNCW, Jerry compiled a 136-103 record in eight seasons. He led the Seahawks to a pair of trips to the NCAA Tournament (2000, 2002) and to the NIT Tournament (1998, 2001). He directed the program to its first ever post-season berth, first 20 win season (1998), and the first win in the NCAA Tournament, a 93-89 triumph over the University of Southern California in 2002.
During his tenure, Jerry’s teams captured 3 regular season CAA titles and 2 CAA Tournament crowns, as the Seahawks averaged 17 wins per season. He was named the CAA Coach of the Year in 1997 and 2001.
His teams at the University of Richmond played in 3 straight post-season tournaments, 1 NCAA and 2 NIT’s, and he led DePaul University to the quarterfinals of the 2008 NIT.
Jerry also went to Iraq in 2008 as part of the USO Operation Hardwood Hoops With The Troops Tour.
As part of the USA Basketball Program, Jerry served as Head Coach for the 19 and under team which won the silver medal in the F.I.B.A. World Championships in Novi Sad, Serbia in 2007.
In 2023, Jerry was recognized as the recipient of the Gene Bartow Award which is presented annually to a current or former coach for his contributions to the game.
