GWSHOF ANNOUNCES INDUCTION WEEKEND SCHEDULE
WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame has announced its schedule for the organization’s 20th anniversary induction weekend on May 15-17, 2026.
The five honorees include standouts from the sports of surfing, baseball and women’s basketball, as well as youth coaching and administration. Bill Curry (surfing), Fred Lynch (basketball/high school athletic director), Ron Musselman (baseball), Ed Wilson (youth coaching) and Tamera Young (women’s basketball) will join the pantheon of Wilmington sports greats. Wilson will be inducted posthumously.
The GWSHOF was founded in 2005 under the direction of Hall of Fame Coach/Administrator Bill Dooley and 18 inductions have been conducted. A total of 79 individuals from various sports or fields have been recognized through the years.
2026 GWSHOF Weekend Events
Friday, May 15, 2026, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Wilmington Convention Center, 10 Convention Center Drive, Wilmington, NC
All five inductees will be present during a special luncheon hosted by well-known sports media personality David Glenn. The inductees will be available for interviews before and after the event.
Following lunch, the inductees will field questions from Glenn about their journeys to the GWSHOF stage.
Saturday, May 16, 2026, 10 a.m., Wilmington Municipal Golf Course, 311 Donald Ross Drive, Wilmington, NC
Many of the inductees and past inductees will attend and/or play during the popular annual golf outing.
Sunday, May 17, 2026, 5 p.m. (Reception), 6 p.m. (Induction), Wilmington Convention Center, 10 Convention Center Drive, Wilmington, NC
In the marquee event of the weekend, the GWSHOF Board of Directors will conduct the formal induction of the five inductees in a unique ceremony highlighting their storied careers.
