Bio

Bob Boyd graduated from John T. Hoggard High School in 1973, the University of Maryland in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science: Business Management degree and the Real Estate Institute Incorporated in Charleston, SC in 1985.

Bob said “I started playing golf at 12 years of age. While in High School I played on the golf team all three years and was Captain my senior year. Upon graduation, I received a full four year scholarship to the University of Maryland where I lettered all four years as well as being Captain of the golf team my senior year. I have been playing competitively and improving my game since that time.”

Bob’s goal was always to pursue a successful career as a Golf Professional. In his words, “I believe to be a dedicated student to the game of Golf and the total management of golf operations. To continually give the members and guests the utmost in individual attention as well as quality service. To participate in the entire club operations so that all activities can be organized, publicized and coordinated properly. To always create an atmosphere that will enhance the enjoyment of the game. To display through my own personal playing and teaching, the characteristics and spirit of good golf and to always conduct myself in a manner that is expected of a good golf professional and to never lower the high standards one must follow.”

Bob began his golf career in 1977 as an Assistant Golf Professional and continued until 1980 when he became a Head Golf Pro. From 1983 through 1986 Bob was a PGA Tour Professional then returning to the role of Head Golf Pro, Director of Golf, Executive Manager, and Teaching Professional. He was also a member of the European Senior Tour.

Bob had been a member of the National PGA Apprentice Program, the National Professional Golfers Association – Class Junior “A”. As well as a member of the National Professional Golfers Association – Class A Member, Carolinas PGA Section and Middle Atlantic PGA Section.

Some of his highlights include: Member Carolinas PGA Hall of Fame (inducted 2007), four time Carolinas PGA Section Champion, four time Carolinas Open Champion, five time South Carolina Open Champion, three time North Carolina Open Champion, Maryland Open Champion, Low County Open Champion, three time Michael Thomas Tradition Champion, two time South Carolina PGA Champion, Carolinas Match Play Champion, National Club Pro Champion, 8 time Carolinas PGA Section Play of the Year.

He also participated in 10 PGA Championships, five US Opens, three British Senior Opens and two Senior PGA Championships.

Bob is survived by his wife Pamela and their son Robert McLean Boyd III.
