Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame

The Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating Wilmington’s rich sports history and honoring its legendary athletes, coaches and contributors. It was created in 2005 under the guidance of Hall of Fame football coach Bill Dooley.

The distinguished first class was introduced in 2006 and the Class of ’26 will soon commemorate the GWSHOF’s 20th anniversary.

The GWSHOF Board of Directors is composed of community leaders who organize and administer the group’s three keynote events, capped by the Legends Induction Banquet. The Wilmington community continues to support the GWSHOF’s efforts each year through strong attendance at the events and sponsorships.
